Can you imagine…

It’s Tuesday morning. A major government agency has just announced the award to our firm of a contract to transform its operating model in 80 countries. This contract will require us to hire over 30 people over the next year. Fortunately, you’ve got structure in place to quickly start up a project and run a quick and compliant recruitment process. You quickly type out a few messages notifying the project partner and your finance and accounting teams of the award. You complete an initial build out of the internal budget and activate the project assistant to schedule a kickoff meeting later in the week. As you turn your attention back to reviewing your other project monthly financials, you feel well prepared to lead the upcoming company forecast process, ensuring our ability to both deliver for our clients and maintain profitability. You’re also excited to see the firm’s impact expand as it takes on ever-tougher problems, tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges — from combating fake news to combating wildlife crime.

…then CollaborateUp may be for you!

At CollaborateUp, we accelerate cooperation among companies, nonprofits, and governments as they tackle some of our world’s biggest challenges. We’re a fast-growing company with an even faster growing reputation. While we’ve been around for more than 10 years, we hit our stride in the past few years and things have taken off. See this sampling of our projects. As a firm we do three primary things:

  1. Train on collaboration skills, tools, and techniques, from co-creation and conception through implementation and scale, in our tailored courses attended by executives from companies like Abbot and Target, NGOs like the US Chamber of Commerce and PSI, and government agencies like the US State Department and USAID. We also created and teach a series of courses on co-creation specifically to USAID staff.
  2. Jumpstart social innovation and collective impact initiatives, by getting diverse stakeholders all thinking and moving in the same direction, tackling some of our world’s biggest challenges.
  3. Run multi-sector collaboration projects, advising participating organizations on how to accelerate the impact of projects like those outlined below and designing and facilitating meetings for them.

Responsibilities

Depending on specific project requirements, the Program Manager will:

  • Be responsible for troubleshooting complex operational matters, identifying, and mitigating areas of risk to programming, and escalating issues to the leadership team with proposed solutions.
  • Oversee Associates and Interns, assigning and overseeing program’s administrative tasks.
  • Monitor budgets, tracking level of effort utilization, deliverables, reviewing invoices, subcontractors, expense reports, etc. to monitor compliance with funder and CollaborateUp policies.
  • Contribute to and monitor technical strategies, working with the Technical Directors to ensure CollaborateUp performance meets its quality standards.
  • Travel as needed to represent the firm with existing and potential clients, partners, and funders and at workshops, conferences, and other public fora.
  • Serve as a significant contributor and beta tester for creating and scaling the firm’s enabling functions, to include government contracting and management controls as well as project and corporate finance.
  • Support the firm’s Business Development unit in partner outreach, proposal writing, pricing, and submission, including preparing and/or reviewing pricing proposals, contracts, subcontracts, and teaming agreements.
  • Oversee and contribute to client reports, literature reviews, or other deliverables.
  • Support the firm’s management team in other work as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A seasoned professional with an undergraduate degree with 8 or more years of experience or a masters degree with 5 or more years of experience with project management, business development, and government contracting. Experience with finance and accounting is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented manager with experience working with USAID.
  • Able to confidently join/lead a consulting project, including liaising with the client on all levels and leading teams to successfully deliver on multiple contracts.
  • Experienced in leading, planning, and coordinating workshops and training, externally and/or internally preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and administrative skills.
  • Self-directed with a strong work ethic – you can manage and provide direction to teams of people with varying levels of experience.
