L.A. Works unites Angelenos and inspires action for an equitable LA. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit volunteer action center, we create and manage hands-on community service projects to mobilize volunteers throughout the greater Los Angeles area. About the role:
We are seeking to hire two passionate, part-time, temporary staff members to act as Climate Champions with the goal to encourage increased participation in climate action and volunteerism. This part-time role involves tabling at museums, community events, and other locations to recruit volunteers, encourage individuals to sign California Volunteers’ Climate Action Counts pledge, and raise awareness about L.A. Works’ mission and programs. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about climate advocacy, comfortable with public outreach, and eager to build relationships that drive community engagement.
About California Volunteers’ Climate Action Counts:
California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, is leading the Climate Action Counts campaign to inspire individuals to take simple yet impactful climate actions. The campaign encourages Californians to pledge their commitment to reducing emissions, conserving resources, and supporting sustainability.

Reporting: This position reports to the Outreach Coordinator.
Time expectations and salary:
This is a temporary, part-time (min 10 hours/week, max 40 hours), non-exempt position, with flexible but potentially irregular hours based on needs. Hourly salary of $22/hour is commensurate with internal equity. This is a temporary position for 6 months with the possibility for extension dependent on funding. The job description doesn't constitute a contract of employment and L.A. Works may exercise its employment-at-will rights at any time.
