The Opportunity

GreenBlue’s Sustainable Packaging Coalition team is seeking a Manager to join their team. This position will work closely with the rest of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition team, the GreenBlue team at large and a variety of external stakeholders developing and implementing special projects as needed, particularly those with a focus on our retailer and academic partners. This is a remote position based in the Continental US. Please read through the end before applying and note the required experience with the retail sector.

The Project Manager, Emerging Initiatives will:

  • Use their existing relationships with the retail sector to lead projects related to this group’s sustainability and packaging efforts.
  • Capitalize on their energetic and collaborative spirit to grow work with packaging schools, professional associations, and other academic partners.
  • Support the SPC Stakeholder Engagement Manager with project management of member working groups, as neededIdeate and produce resources and content for members as needed, including guides, 101 documents, datasets, blog posts and thought leadership pieces, and more.
  • Support the GreenBlue team with external events participation as needed.
  • Take an active onsite role at GreenBlue events as it relates to session management, networking events, moderating panels, and delivering presentations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest sustainability and packaging trends affecting SPC members and stakeholders.
  • Support the SPC team and Membership team in other projects as needed.

You:

  • Have experience working on sustainability projects, preferably related to waste or packaging, at a retailer or with retail clients.
  • Have existing relationships and connections within the corporate sustainability and/or packaging space.
  • Are high energy, enthusiastic, and outgoing.

  • Are incredibly organized, assertive and self-motivated.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination, including at least 3 years’ experience working inside a retailer or with retailers as a client.
  • Recent experience in a role or project within the Packaging Industry.
  • Experience developing and implementing sustainability programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Experience leading stakeholder meetings, both virtually and in person.
  • High level of comfort with delivering presentations, public speaking, and relationship building.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of project management systems, such as Clickup.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment and designing, collaborating and implementing multiple projects.

Salary & Benefits

Starting Salary: The Project Manager, Emerging Initiatives salary level starts at $72,800.
