The Opportunity

Hot Bread Kitchen seeks an entrepreneurial Director of Impact and Innovation who will lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive impact strategy while managing the design and initial implementation of new programmatic initiatives. The Director of Impact and Innovation will lead the development and implementation of metrics and KPIs across all programs, lead performance management and continuous learning processes, and implement a longitudinal strategic evaluation plan. Further, this position will coordinate initiatives that support the continued growth and innovation of our programs. The ideal candidate is a results-driven and strategic thinker; a skilled communicator; and someone who thrives on collaborating with partners. The Director will report to the Chief Program Officer and work collaboratively across the organization. They will also manage one SalesForce Administrator.

General Responsibilities

  • Setting KPIs, Program Evaluation and Performance Management
    • Building on existing tools, work closely with the Chief Program Officer and the leadership team to establish benchmarks and performance targets to measure the success and effectiveness of programs and projects.
    • Regularly assess and refine metrics to ensure relevance and accuracy, utilizing data-driven insights to guide decision-making.
    • Craft a data evaluation and reporting plan that includes both quantitative and qualitative methods, as appropriate, for both internal program improvement purposes as well as for external reporting purposes.
    • Provide recommendations for strategic adjustments based on data trends and performance indicators.
    • Manage discrete evaluation projects, working closely with the program staff to assure that the evaluations provide quality, useful, and timely information.
    • Partner with the SalesForce Administrator to ensure that the system is up to date and supports program operations and performance management processes.
  • Data Reporting and Presentation
    • Regularly disseminate internal performance management and data reports with accurate and up to date information.
    • In partnership with the Program leadership team, lead performance management meetings to ensure continuous program improvement.  
    • Partner with the Development team, ensuring that we are accurately reporting on program performance against goals
    • Partner with the Brand team and provide both quantitative and qualitative data to support external communications
  • Program Development and Training Management
    • In close collaboration with the programs’ team leadership, lead the creation and implementation of staff training programs, utilizing external training resources, including the creation of systems to ensure training effectiveness and staff skill development
    • Support the launch of new programs and initiatives, ensuring effective administration across each programmatic pillar and with other organizational departments such as Brand and Development.
    • Assist with assessing, responding to, and implementing new programmatic opportunities and partnerships.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of experience developing and implementing qualitative and quantitative tools that support programmatic performance management and evaluation processes in a human services non-profit organization.
  • Experience with evidence-based practices in a mission-centered and community-driven setting is strongly preferred.
  • Superb ability to visually represent data in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and report on all program-level activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate effective data management meetings
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects, set goals, and establish priorities

  • Familiarity with Salesforce is strongly preferred.

Compensation

This is a full time position. The salary range is $80,000 to $90,000 and is commensurate with experience. Hot Bread Kitchen’s comprehensive benefits package includes health/vision/dental insurance (available from day one!), 401K contributions, 16 days of paid office closure (including holidays, and staff appreciation days) and a one week holiday break at the end of the year, flexible vacation time, generous sick and paid family leave, and sabbatical program (after 5 years). Location

This position requires working regularly in-person 3-5 days a week at our facility at Chelsea Market and, on occasion, at various program locations. Further, this position requires flexibility, including availability during evening hours, on occasion.
