The Opportunity
As the Fundraising Events Coordinator for North America, you will support the implementation of Room to Read’s annual gala in NYC, along with other fundraising events throughout the year across the United States. You’ll act as a partner to develop fresh approaches to increase engagement with both new and existing corporate sponsors and high-net-worth donors. Using your exceptional organizational and time management skills, you’ll ensure that logistics are seamlessly executed and processes are streamlined.
In this role, you will report to the Senior Director of Global Events and will collaborate closely with the Director of Development for North America. You’ll also assist the Director, North America, to help them achieve their fundraising goals by supporting events. The position requires travel throughout the US for annual events, and potentially other event locations if needed.

What you'll do
- Support the Senior Director, Global Events and North America Development Director in executing the North America team’s overall event strategy.
- Administer all logistical elements of event management in North America, including liaising with venues and vendors, ensuring accurate guest services at events, collateral production and other event-specific duties as required.
- Assist Development Managers with locating venues and vendors, creating events, requesting and logging dietary requirements and other data as needed.
- Help design and execute unique engagement activities to attract and retain high-net-worth donors in consultation with international business development teams.
- Partner with local volunteer chapters to identify volunteers to assist with in-person event tasks including gala venue visits, logistics for charity concerts, etc.
- Help recruit and steward donors and sponsors, such as auction items donors, wine sponsors, etc., and secure auction items in each market; manage items secured from other sources.
- Prepare reports that demonstrate to event sponsors and supporters how their contributions were used.
- Design processes to streamline activities including guest registration, event promotions, sponsorship pitches, gift and revenue tracking, prize delivery and thank you communications for implementation by local market teams
- Assist with the development of event RSVP and donation pages through external platforms such as Engaging Networks, Givergy, GalaBid and others, in partnership with the global business operations and marketing/communication teams.
- Liaise with Global Business Operations on the creation of LookBooks.
- Maintain accurate event records in database, including sponsor cultivation, contribution and stewardship, tracking event RSVPs,
- Ensure that procurement procedures are followed when working with contracted vendors and suppliers.
- Contribute to preparation of reports on return on investment and other key metrics such as average donation per attendee and number of new attendees.
- Undertake other event-specific duties to support the Global Events and Development Communications teams as required.
In your first 3 to 6 months, you will:
- Learn about the events planned for your territory
- Develop implementation timelines for each event
- Locate and help with contracting vendors for each event
What you'll bring
Required:
- 3 to 5 years’ non-profit fundraising event experience in New York City with an understanding of the event landscape in North America.
- Demonstrated success coordinating fundraising events such as galas, for high-net-worth individuals.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, from donors to chapter volunteers to vendors.
- Ability to create unique activities that engage both prospects and donors.
- Experience with streamlining processes.
- Proven ability to secure items for auctions as well as event sponsorships.
- Willingness to work occasionally outside of standard hours, including evenings, in support of events and activities.
- Ability and willingness to travel on an as needed basis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred:
- Some experience with donor databases (i.e. Salesforce) or desire to learn database systems
Bonus Points for:
- Experience in working on events on the West Coast.

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $64,570 to $76,753. Compensation may vary depending on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, and relevant education or certifications.
