Position Objective

Foster robust community involvement and mobilization in support of NCJW|LA's mission and initiatives by working to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community leaders, partner organizations, volunteers and donors to amplify our advocacy efforts and assist with designing and implementing strategic engagement strategies, events, and campaigns that will inspire and empower individuals to take action on issues related to economic justice and equity for women in Los Angeles.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance advocacy, civic engagement efforts, and our volunteer program. This role involves revitalizing current community initiatives, developing volunteer programs, and fostering partnerships to strengthen community involvement.

Advocacy

· Assist senior management in developing goals and objectives for the program.

· Develop and implement base-building strategies to support NCJW|LA’s Community Education, Policy Advocacy, and Research efforts in partnership with department leadership.

· Oversee the Advocacy Training Project including establishing community partnerships to enroll participants and facilitate in-person and/or virtual sessions.

· Assist in developing supporting documentation (agenda, talking points, presentations, and agreements) for Advocacy Working Group meetings and other group activities.

Engagement

· Spearhead the revitalization of current community and civic engagement initiatives and activities.

· Innovate and implement new approaches to strengthen community partnerships and increase community involvement.

· Oversee day-to-day maintenance of Civic Engagement activities including intern/volunteer outreach, recruitment and training, materials development, and event coordination.

· Support the development and implementation of civic and voter engagement efforts, including voter registration, non-partisan voter education, voter turn-out efforts, and field/data tracking.

· Work in partnership with Director to develop targeted metrics and track and report out on impact against those targets.

Volunteer Management

· Oversee all aspects of the volunteer program, including recruitment, training, supervision, and recognition by developing standard protocols and procedures for each process.

· Work across agency departments to identify and define volunteer roles, help create detailed job descriptions and qualifications for those roles, and ensure department leads actively engage volunteers once they have been on-boarded.

· Develop training resources and materials and standardized on-boarding for new recruits to ensure all volunteers are equipped to support organizational objectives effectively.

· Cultivate a supportive and engaging volunteer environment that promotes retention and satisfaction.

· Track volunteer engagement outcomes and volunteer satisfaction to identify opportunities for expansion and improvement.

Collaborations

· Coordinate outreach efforts to diverse community groups to foster inclusivity and engagement

· Attend coalition and committee meetings on behalf of NCJW|LA

· Connect and collaborate with NCJW|LA program staff to maintain alignment between advocacy priorities and NCJW|LA programs and services.

· Assist with cultivating strategic partnerships to support the initiative's success, including those partners that align with the issues and efforts the specified communities determine.

· Additional duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications & Skills

· Minimum of one year of experience as program staff with sensitivity to collaborating with different constituent groups.

· Awareness of community organizing principles.

· Possess a commitment to and belief in the need for economic justice to build equity in communities at the local, state, and national levels.

· Must have reliable transportation

· Must be able to travel locally for coalition meetings, events and other related activities.

· Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.

· Skilled at engaging people from diverse backgrounds to work towards a common goal.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.

· Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds.

· Must live in LA County.

· Proven experience in community engagement, volunteer management, or related roles.

· Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

· Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and community groups.

· Passion for advocating for community needs and driving social impact.

Salary & Benefits

The anticipated salary range for a non-profit Program manager for this position is $65,000 – $70,000 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to employees (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, Group Long Term Disability Insurance, and Life and AD&D. Eligible employees can enroll in the organization's 401k plan. We also offer PTO, and paid holidays. Sick pay up to 96 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
