Is Changing Jobs the Best Way to Get a Raise?

Hey, we see you over there, working hard at the same company for years for measly annual raises. We also see your increasing bills, the high cost of living, and that boujee European vacation you’ve been dreaming about.

It’s time to make more money. And you wanna know one of the best ways to do that? Switching jobs.

At least…maybe. Let’s look into some stats.

In 2023, Bank of America reported that you could score a 13% pay increase by switching jobs. Compare that to the 3-5% increase you can get each year at your current job.

Essentially, you have more bargaining power at a new company than you do at your current one. But pay isn’t the only factor you should weigh.

If you like the culture at your current job and it offers great benefits, paid time off, and work-life balance, staying might feel more worthwhile than starting over somewhere else. Plus, your current job might be able to negotiate on those things with you more than they could over a raise.

BUT if you’re ready for a change and the growth potential at your current job isn’t cutting it (and you want more cold hard cash in your bank account), switching jobs is the way to go.

There’s also a third option here, which is that you could leverage a job offer to get a raise at your current job. Trust us, this is gonna make you feel like a bada$$ boss.

Whatever option you choose, we’re manifesting a full bank account and that European holiday for ya.

If you are ready to change jobs, scroll down to start applying for new Impact Jobs pronto. Arrivederci!
