Want to Solve Underemployment? Apply For a Job at Basta
Whattup, job seekers! We’re back with another job feature for ya, and this one goes out to all the folks who have a heart for getting first-generation college students employed.
Allow us to introduce you to Basta. Since 2016, Basta has helped first-generation college students of color land jobs and launch their careers after graduating.
In fact, Basta’s fellowship program helps job-seekers find positions at nearly twice the rate of their peers. Not too shabby!
It’s even more impressive when you learn about the scope of underemployment in the U.S. According to Basta, “only 44% of first-gen students of color land a job that requires their degree, and only 20% earn a living wage within a year of graduation.”
The organization has become a bridge between students and job opportunities. They partner with colleges, non-profits, and employers to help students land jobs that put them on the path to a thriving career.
Want to be part of their mission? Keep reading to find out what positions they're hiring for right now.
We hope that Basta is a great fit for you! If it’s not, no sweat because there’s more where that came from. Scroll down for more new Impact Jobs.

Win of the Week:
In North Dakota, a Native American tribe is growing crops in a giant 3.3-acre greenhouse complex. The tribe seeks to grow its own food after a federal dam flooded the land where they originally farmed. When completed, the greenhouse complex will be one of the world’s largest facilities of its type.
Bummer of the Week:
Since mid-March, Kenya has received relentless rainfall, which has flooded local farms and dashed the hopes and financial stability of farmers. The flooding, which has killed nearly 300 people, will cause food insecurity across the country this fall.
