Join our growing team! Lyons-Newman Consulting is seeking a part-time Social Impact Operations Manager (must live in the San Francisco Bay Area).

Hours: Part-time, 15 hours per week (with potential to increase)

Compensation: $40 - $50 per hour commensurate with experience; two weeks paid vacation

Location: Remote (however, must live in the San Francisco Bay Area and work at approximately 2 in-person meetings per month)

The Opportunity

The Operations Manager will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations across our internal projects and organizational functions. You will coordinate a range of activities including internal project management, organizational systems management, financial management, and human resources. The role offers the opportunity to work in an intellectually stimulating environment with a talented, dedicated, and collaborative team of consultants with deep nonprofit sector and management consulting experience, and to support our firm as we partner with extraordinary Bay Area social justice nonprofit, philanthropic, and government leaders. This role is pivotal to supporting efficient, scalable processes that enhance our team’s productivity and impact.

As our Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing organizational systems – Establish, document, and contribute to the optimization and implementation of internal systems, processes, and procedures (e.g., systems for onboarding clients, process for drafting client contracts). Oversee digital file management and organization.
  • Project management – Coordinate project management tasks for internal initiatives (e.g., developing proposals), track deadlines, and manage follow up tasks. Develop and refine project management systems, including coordinating timelines and allocation of staffing resources across our projects.
  • Financial management and analytics - Manage financial planning for the firm, including generating and tracking invoices. Support with creation of the annual budget, track revenues and expenses, and produce quarterly reports to monitor performance. Manage our customer relationship management (CRM) tracking and analysis. Generate reports and identify insights and recommendations. Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools as needed.
  • Human resources – Coordinate employee onboarding process and materials, annual review processes and materials, and payroll and benefits. Ensure compliance with HR regulations.
  • Supporting external communications - Produce external digital communications and ensure a strong, on-brand digital presence. Manage and update our email newsletter mailing list and coordinate preparation of the newsletter. Make website updates (Squarespace).
  • Teamwork – Contribute to and support a collaborative, diverse, and innovative team and organizational culture.
  • Other tasks – Handle special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have these qualifications (even if you do not have 100% of the specific requirements below, or if you have achieved these requirements through unconventional methods, we encourage you to apply):

  • Exceptional writing and copyediting skills
  • Superlative attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work products that are accurate, aesthetically pleasing, and make a positive impact on our firm
  • Experience with coordinating complex projects, data analysis, and other technical and detail-oriented projects
  • Prompt correspondence and demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, at times on tight deadlines, and to effectively prioritize time and tasks
  • Demonstrated experience and skill producing clear, attractive, and structured documents, spreadsheets, and materials
  • Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (and their Google Suite equivalents), and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom
  • Excellent online research, digital marketing, and website management skills are desirable
  • Fluency in other languages, particularly Spanish, is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and integrity
  • Extremely well-organized
  • Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree is desirable); A degree in business, data analytics, or nonprofit management is a plus
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience (experience working at a management consulting firm is highly desirable, but not required)
  • Alignment with our values and passion for strengthening Bay Area mission-driven organizations and advancing racial, economic, environmental, and social justice

Salary

$40 - $50 per hour commensurate with experience; two weeks paid vacation.
