The high level:

The national manager of partnerships and growth (MPG) is part of an inaugural team working to accelerate Reading Partners’ mission through national delivery partnerships, new transformative innovations, and capacity-building partnerships. The primary role of the national manager of partnerships and growth is to drive an ambitious national partner acquisition strategy to reach and exceed the division’s annual student impact goal and new business revenue metric beyond our 11 core regions. Reporting directly to the vice president of strategic partnerships and growth (VPSPG), the MPG will be primarily external facing, focusing on building a strong national delivery and capacity partnerships pipeline. The national manager of partnerships and growth is an expert relationship builder, a dynamic thought partner, a seasoned market researcher, and a national leader with an entrepreneurial mindset.  

Location: This position is remote but requires candidates to reside within one of Reading Partners’ markets. Reading Partners markets include Baltimore, MD, Denver, CO, Charleston, SC, Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, North Texas (Dallas and Fort Worth), San Francisco Bay Area, CA, Seattle, WA, Twin Cities, MN, Tulsa, OK, and Washington, D.C.

What you’ll do:

National Partner Acquisition:

Drive and execute a national new partner acquisition strategy to support the innovation and partnerships division in meeting and/or exceeding annual revenue and student impact metrics.

  • Facilitate strategic outbound and targeted lead generation tactics (i.e.prospecting, differentiated campaigns, and market seeding) to build a robust pipeline of national delivery partnerships.
  • Conduct market research and landscape analyses for new partner acquisition in service of the current and forecasted product roadmap — staying abreast of key market trends and national/ state education policy.
  • Co-facilitate, and engage in external-facing partner meetings, field engagements, and industry events alongside the VPSPG.
  • Build, maintain, and forecast an accurate partnerships pipeline within Salesforce and internal operating systems.

National Capacity Building and Community Engagement:

Mobilize and build a pipeline of innovative and sustainable national capacity partnerships to meet and exceed national volunteer recruitment targets for our national partners.

  • Drive national volunteer recruitment strategies to ensure student enrollment and impact targets are met through the recruitment of up to 1500 tutors.
  • Work with capacity-building partners such as universities or corporate entities to recruit volunteers.
  • Ensure at least 85% of sessions are delivered by volunteers in collaboration with national partners and Reading Partner’s program team.
  • Maintain a high rate of volunteer retention, year over year, of at least 30%, and build strategies to incrementally increase this target in successive years.
  • Achieve 90% or higher volunteer satisfaction rating on end-of-year survey.
  • Lead recruitment/onboarding for key partners, as well as best practices for onboarding, supporting, and transitioning all partnerships at the national level.
  • Lead on all REDI (Race Equity Diversity and Inclusion) learning and development for all national volunteers annually.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

Work closely with key internal and external stakeholders, and the vice president of strategic partnerships and growth (VPSPG) to drive Reading Partners’ strategic priorities and transformative bets.

  • Work cross-functionally with the national program, community engagement, and regional operations teams to ensure seamless programmatic alignment and implementation in service of each national partner.
  • Work in partnership with VPSPG to co-design and drive innovation design processes to test, iterate, and implement new transformative bets.
  • Support in building and refining internal systems and processes to grow the national innovation and partnerships department.

  • Demonstrate an advanced ability to build sustainable partnerships through existing relationships and the cultivation of new transformational relationships to drive annual revenue and student impact targets.
  • Establish highly collaborative cross-functional relationships, and collaborate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Support in the co-design, infrastructure building, and the implementation of the national innovation and partnerships growth strategy.
  • Create transformational partnership solutions with a high degree of adaptability and flexibility. Anticipate challenges and/or questions, and proactively execute solutions. Always act in accordance with larger strategic priorities and make measurable progress against these larger goals through partnerships and internal team members. Be able to make quick, sound, and impactful decisions that consider all stakeholders.

Project Management:

  • Demonstrate an ability to effectively manage time, balance multiple competing priorities at once, and, above all, and remain adaptable, flexible, and positive while navigating challenges. Anticipate challenges and/or questions, and proactively act to address them. Understand larger strategic priorities and make measurable progress against these larger goals. Show an ability to make quick, sound, and on-the-fly decisions that consider all stakeholders. See the bigger picture and be able to drill down to smaller details and connect the dots.

Strategic Communication:

  • Demonstrate the ability to genuinely promote Reading Partners and our mission across multiple external channels through a variety of communication strategies. Provide excellent customer service to partners and national-volunteers. Display a high level of comfort with written and verbal facilitation to deliver compelling messaging and presentations tailored to various national audiences.
  • Upstand strong internal systems for communication and messaging, tailor communication to audiences, and contextualize messaging. Demonstrate a strong aptitude for effective communication, remotely and in person, with direct reports, school stakeholders, and other Reading Partners staff. Be able to conduct difficult conversations with grace and ease.

Qualifications

About you:

You’ll be successful in this role if you have:

  • 2-4 years of professional experience in the K-12 education, nonprofit, and/or social impact sector
  • Direct experience and demonstrated success in revenue-generating, new business development, and/or national recruitment capacities
  • Experience operationalizing and implementing partnership or business development strategies
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Experience facilitating trainings for internal and external stakeholders in person and remotely
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, education, or business; or an equivalent combination of skills, training and experience in nonprofit business development, sales, or partnership recruitment

  • Ability to prove eligibility to work legally in the U.S. and that you are at least 18 years of age.

Bonus Points if you have:

  • EdTech or education sales and account management experience with a proven track record of territory management, consultative sales and exceptional client relations
  • Product management, innovation design, and implementation experience
  • AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service experience
  • Experience working in launch or growth phases of organizations

We aim to set salaries based on objective, external, high-quality market data. Our salaries are adjusted for candidates in different geographic regions. We do our very best to ensure that we’re bringing our best offer - therefore we do not engage in salary negotiations.

  • This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. The pay range for this position is $71,353 - $83,945 and is contingent on geographic location. After submitting an application, candidates who move forward in the hiring process are provided with the salary for their geographical location.
  • We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flex spending accounts, generous paid time off, commuter benefits, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and currently a 403(b) match option.
